For the last few years, FC Barcelona have been unable to operate in the football market at an optimal level because of their financial problems. The Blaugranes are afforded a lower salary cap by La Liga because of their inability to meet the league’s financial standards, and this has been a significant handicap on the Blaugrana club’s ability to incorporate their desired players.
However, the financial situation has been improving gradually over the last few years. The Catalans also have some operations underway to further increase their income, and one such operation currently underway is the renewal of their sponsorship agreement with Nike.
In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that the two entities are making good progress, and only an announcement of the final agreement between the two parties is left to be made. A telematic meeting of the Barcelona Board of Directors took place on Friday, in which voting was conducted to ratify the verbal agreement that already exists between the two parties.
This agreement was ultimately ratified in this meeting, and now Barcelona waiting for the American firm to also give their approval so the final contracts can be drafted.
The Blaugrana club’s confidence in seeing this operation come to a successful conclusion is clear from the fact that they have already included its income in its budget for the 2024-25 year.
The report has also provided some information on this income, as it claims that between 2024 and 2028, the club’s income from the Nike sponsorship will increase by €48 million, and from 2028 to 2038, the club’s income will increase by €58-60 million than what they are getting now. The Catalans will also get a significant bonus, which will be spread over the years of this agreement.
Once Nike approves this agreement, Barcelona’s legal disputes with Nike will come to an end. However, as the Blaugranes have already entered the income from this renewal in their 2024-25 budget, there will only be a minimal increase in their salary cap with this deal.
