Following a week that has looked quite promising for FC Barcelona, it appears that the Catalan giants are in for some bad news that could change the mood of the fans in particular moving forward. While the team continues to play good football, it seems that Barca may have had their luck run out elsewhere.
Injuries are a development that no club, manager, or fan wishes to see occur with one of their players. When they do end up inevitably sidelining a player, it typically can take a toll on the team not just from the perspective of depth but also on morale at times.
In the latest development over in South America, as highlighted by Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, 18-year-old Brazilian talent Vitor Roque has suffered a serious injury while playing for Athletico Paranaense in the Brazilian Serie A against Internacional.
Injured within the first 11 minutes of the game, the pain from the injury was so severe that the Brazilian wonderkid had to be stretchered off from the field to be taken elsewhere for treatment.
Having been signed by FC Barcelona this summer, the Catalan giants have been dealt a massively worrying blow given that they were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Roque in Spain in January.
However, it appears that even if the Blaugranes manage to bring in Roque in January, his recovery may keep him sidelined for a longer period.
The Brazilian talent was already enjoying a great run of form for Athletico Paranaense before this new injury. As a result, it will remain to be seen exactly how the player recovers and manages to return from this undoubtedly tough hurdle in front of him.
From the initial looks of it, the injury seems to be concerned with Roque’s ankle and according to Javi Miguel, the expected time out at the moment is stated to be around three months for Vitor Roque to complete his recovery. Most likely, the 18-year-old will make his return in January of 2024.
Moving forward, Barcelona will now be hoping to plan out what January will look like in terms of transfer arrivals and if the Catalan club can manage to create enough room given their financial fair play limitations to incorporate Vitor Roque or not as soon as possible.
