FC Barcelona have continued with their tradition of getting the brightest shining football talent at the club with the signing of Vitor Roque this summer. The Catalans have officially signed the player but it is not yet clear when he will actually land in Barcelona.
When Barcelona reached an agreement for Roque’s transfer with the player and his club, it was expected that the player would not join the Catalan club this summer, but would come only in the winter window.
However, with the sale of Ousmane Dembele, the club reassessed whether they can bring the Brazilian to Barcelona this very summer.
Roque hints he will not join Barcelona this summer
With such uncertainty surrounding his arrival, Vitor Roque’s social media activity gives an indication of when the player will be available for Xavi. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Roque shared some pictures on his social media, along with the caption that goes as: “God has marked the right time for every single thing.”
Brazilian to join in January or July
The pictures accompanying this caption were all in an Athletico Paranaense shirt, indicating that the player would remain with the Brazilian club for now. With only around two weeks left in the summer transfer window, it is becoming clear that Roque would join the Catalan club in winter at the latest.
However, this is also not certain yet, as his transfer can also go as far as July. The Athletico Paranaense Sporting Director, Alexandre Mattos, also clearly stated in his statements recently that Roque would not join Barcelona this summer, and this was the intention at the time Barcelona signed the player.
Still, Barcelona have already gotten the hardest part done in the Vitor Roque operation, as they have already signed the player, thus ruling out any competition that they were facing from other top European clubs for his signature.
