With Vitor Roque’s signing, FC Barcelona have got their center-forward position covered for a number of years coming ahead, if everything goes as planned. The Brazilian sensation is still only 18 years old, and thus, has almost his entire senior ahead to play for the Blaugranes.
Barcelona bought Roque this summer for €30 million, while a further €31 million will be paid in variables. However, the player is not going to join Barcelona till January next year and is still playing for the Brazilian club, Athletico Paranaense.
Roque scores another goal in Brazil
The youngster has shown amazing form for the Paranaense side, which has continued for several months now. He has been getting in the news for all the decisive and beautiful goals that he has been scoring in the last few months, despite having an age disadvantage over most of the players that he faces in Brazilian Serie A.
His latest exploits, which have been reported by SPORT, on the pitch came in Paranaense’s last match against Fluminense. This goal was another decisive contribution from Roque for the Brazilian club, as he scored from a header in added time to tie the scores at 2-2.
With this goal, Roque did not only help his team avoid a loss, but also showed the Brazil coach, Fernando Diniz, what he is missing out on by not calling up Roque for World Cup Qualifiers, as he was also coaching Fluminense, and thus directly saw Roque in action.
Leading the scoring charts
With this goal, Roque has already scored three goals in his last four games. His goal helped Paranaense avoid defeat in a very difficult game, which was made even more difficult as his team had to play with 10 men from 22 minutes onwards, as Vinicius Kaue was shown a red card.
With this goal, Roque has further established himself as one of the top scorers in the top-tier Brazilian league, currently sitting second with 10 goals, only behind Tiquinho Soares from Botafogo. Roque has a golden chance to top these rankings as Soares is currently out for two months due to a knee injury.
