The winter transfer window is about to begin in around one month, and FC Barcelona are finalising their plans for the January market. The club will make all the required efforts to get Vitor Roque incorporated into their squad, but he is not going to be the only new arrival.
According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona are no longer ruling out bringing in a midfielder in addition to Vitor Roque in January. In this regard, the club agrees with Xavi that the incorporation of Roque would be the first priority, but if their finances allow, Barcelona would also try to get an interior midfielder who can cover for the injured Gavi.
How much Barcelona are able to turn these plans into reality depends to a large extent on the pending sale of Barca Studios. The Catalans understand that Libero Group is not going to make the previously agreed payment, and have thus opened negotiations with two other parties.
One of the conditions that Barcelona has put for these two groups is to pay at least €30 million, which will allow the Catalan club to have a sufficient salary limit in January. If such an arrangement can be made, Vitor Roque will easily be registered and a midfielder can also be brought into the team.
However, if Barcelona are unable to get these funds, the top priority will remain Vitor Roque, and 80% of Gavi’s wage will be used to register him with La Liga.
Regarding the choice of the midfielder, there is some difference between the coaching and sporting departments of the club.
Deco believes it would be extremely difficult to get a top-class midfielder who agrees to join only for six months and is then sent on loan. Deco is also looking for a more physical midfielder, as he believes a more attacking midfielder will not get many chances.
Xavi, as was the case with him last summer, wants an attacking midfielder who can open up defenses with his passes. For now, nothing is finalized, and nothing is ruled out, but a lot depends on how the sale of Barca Studios proceeds.
