A lot of players from FC Barcelona youth academy have already proven their mettle with the first team this season, but there are still others who are waiting for their chance to showcase their talents at the highest level.
One such player in the latter category is Dani Rodriguez, who is having a season to remember with Barcelona Atletic. He is currently out with an injury that he suffered in February and from which he has not yet recovered.
However, this injury has not kept his potential from being unnoticed by other clubs, especially at this point in time as his current contract is ending this summer.
Rodriguez is going to turn 19 years of age this summer, and with his long-term future not secured at Barcelona, it is uncertain where he will be playing for the next season.
According to SPORT, there is no shortage of clubs looking to avail this opportunity to sign the youngster, and one La Liga club, Athletic Club, has been following him for several months now.
The Basque club’s Sporting Director, Mikel Gonzalez, has his name marked on his list and is particularly interested in taking advantage of his contractual situation to get him to his club.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, already aware of this interest in Rodriguez, are also working to pre-empt their efforts by getting a renewal signed. The Catalans are treating his case as a priority, and are already in contact with his agent, Pini Zahavi, for this purpose.
Rodriguez has already trained under Xavi several times this season and is a key player for the Barcelona Atletic manager, Rafa Marquez. Thus, the sporting project that Barcelona offers him will be key in him and the club arriving at an agreement. But, as things stand, there are no guarantees he will continue at Barcelona, and his future remains highly uncertain.
