FC Barcelona have been dealt a significant blow recently as they saw their judicial appeal for provisional registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor declined, while La Liga also refused to register the players despite the Catalans submitting documentation regarding the sale of VIP seats.

There is no doubt that this can turn out to be a historical humiliation for the Blaugranes, and can also have a drastic effect on the team’s performances as Flick can be left without an important player for the second half of the season.

But in addition to this institutional and sporting damage, this situation can also have an enormous financial impact on the Catalan club. SPORT has provided a brief idea of the extent to which these losses can go.

If the impossibility of his registration is confirmed in the coming days, Olmo will have the option to leave Barcelona for free. But even in this case, the Catalan club will be liable to pay his full wages till his contract expires in 2030. In total, this sum can rise up to €48 million.

In addition to these wages, the Blaugranes will also have to continue paying the remaining amount of the €55 million that had been agreed as his transfer fee with RB Leipzig last summer.

Only a part of this sum has been paid up to now, and Barcelona will have to continue making these payments even if the Spaniard leaves the Catalan club as a free agent.

Needless to say, the Azulgrana will also be unable to recuperate this sum from a potential sale as he can leave for free if he is not registered in January. This will be a particularly painful blow for them as he is one of the more valuable players in their squad, rated at €60 million at Transfermarkt.

These losses can also be added to the loss that Barcelona had to settle for by selling their VIP seats for €100 million to ensure they can return to the 1:1 rule and get Olmo registered in time. Previously, this asset was expected to generate around €200 million if the Catalans had negotiated without any constraints in the future.

Thus, if they are unable to register him and Olmo leaves for free, Barcelona’s losses from this whole fiasco can total up to €263 million. And this economic loss is other than the sporting and institutional losses that the Catalan entity will endure.
