An ensemble of talented stars is currently present at FC Barcelona as the Catalans create a competitive team. A mixture of old and young, it is a team of players from around the world that are gelled together with the singular goal of putting Barca back where it belongs in the European hierarchy.
However, it is not just fans who end up amazed by the qualities of certain players. Fellow footballing stars also at times become impressed with the qualities of teammates or even rivals given the diversity of talent that can be found in the ever-growing world of football.
Most impressive at Barcelona
One such case was recently found in the pre-match press conference of FC Barcelona before they take on Porto. Joao Felix accompanied his coach Xavi Hernandez for the media questioning and was asked his opinion on which player ended up impressing him the most at Barcelona, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo.
For Felix, the answer seemed to be quite straightforward and one without any hesitation:
“Frenkie (De Jong) is the player who has surprised me the most at Barca.”
Asset to the team
The Portuguese star further reflected on his impression of his Dutch teammate. Stating that while it is one thing to watch Frenkie play from afar, but in close proximity it is much more surreal to notice his qualities and abilities:
“I already knew him on TV, but in person, you have another perspective of his game and the control he gives to the team.”
Currently in recovery
Despite the high praise that Felix has showered upon one of his Barcelona captains, the Catalans are still missing him. The Dutch midfielder is currently out injured and will not feature for several games even after the one against Porto.
Early reports suggest that the midfielder could take until November to make his full return. The injury itself was sustained not too long ago in September, but Barcelona are hopeful with his recovery and expect to see him back as soon as possible.
The 26-year-old has been one of the mainstays under Xavi this season and has already featured 7 times for Barcelona. His minutes across those games have accumulated to 544 minutes in total, during which he managed to score against Villarreal as well.
