The FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has been making the headlines for the last two days. The Uruguayan defender has strongly been linked with the German giant Bayern Munich in the last week, and there is all kinds of speculation still being done on this potential move.

Earlier, it was reported that the Bayern Munich coach, Thomas Tuchel, and the Sporting Director, Christophe Freunde, had contacted Araujo through a phone call.

The Bayern coach communicated to the defender his willingness to bring him to Munich with a clear role in the squad and his club will pay whatever is necessary to bring him to Bavaria.

However, the Uruguayan’s entourage was quick to deny any such contact, while people close to Tuchel also denied any such phone call had taken place.

Mundo Deportivo has provided some more details on this matter and claims that the defender has no intention of leaving Barcelona, at least in the winter window. However, he will have to consider the proposal once again in the summer.

Bayern Munich desperately want Araujo, especially after the long-term injury suffered by De Ligt in November, and is ready to significantly increase his salary. However, Araujo is not as interested in money as he is in a good project and winning as many trophies as possible.

Bayern is alluring in this latter aspect as well, as the German club is a regular contender for the UEFA Champions League. Araujo will see how Barcelona’s project evolves this season but currently feels very comfortable in the Catalan club.

Furthermore, Bayern Munich are not the only club to have asked about the defender. The Premier League side, Manchester United, also offered to double his salary, and almost all the big European clubs, except Real Madrid, have made inquiries about his situation.

Meanwhile, Barcelona believe it is normal for a player of Araujo’s quality to receive such proposals. The Catalans are calm because the player has a contract with them till 2026, and has a €1 billion release clause. Deco is also planning to work on his renewal next season.
