FC Barcelona got their second victory in this La Liga campaign after a hard-fought match against Villarreal. The Catalans suffered at times during the match, which was understandable because of the multiple players they were missing due to injury and suspension, but still came out of the match with the full three points.

Sergi Roberto was captaining the Catalan side in this match being the Catalan team’s first captain. Playing at the right-back position, the Barcelona captain suffered at times defensively, but he contributed well to the team’s attack.

Roberto praises Yamal after the match

Being the captain of his team, Sergi Roberto was one of the players who spoke to the media after the match. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, he particularly praised the team’s efforts to take the game to the opposition and its desire to win this match:

“It was a very competitive game. We would have liked to have more control and not suffer as much. The team showed the desire to win.”

Roberto himself graduated from La Masia and has been with the Barcelona first team for thirteen years now. After the match, the Barcelona captain praised another La Masia product who is having a great time and taking the world of football by storm, Lamine Yamal:

“It’s an honor to have academy players like Lamine. He’s been very important, and I encourage him to keep going in the same direction.”

Comments on Fati and Torres

Another player whom the Barcelona captain commented upon during this talk was Ansu Fati, who is another La Masia graduate, who started his first-team career with great promise, but has been struggling for form in the past few years. Regarding Ansu, Roberto commented:

“I recommend that he looks at his teammates. Football is about moments. In the end, we are all part of the team, and everyone is important. Opportunities will come, and he has the talent.”

Lastly, Roberto also commented on the hot form that Ferran Torres is showing at the moment. Roberto shared an anecdote from the matchday lunch in this regard:

“During lunch today, I asked Ferran how many minutes he would need to score, and look… he only needed 5 minutes.”

Thus, Barcelona’s first captain has given his opinion on the various forwards Barcelona currently have. Barring Fati, both Torres and Yamal have been in great form for some time now, and hopefully, they can continue on this trend to help Barcelona challenge for all the titles this season.
