FC Barcelona will be hoping to get off the mark in the Champions League this season with the game against Young Boys later tonight. Having lost their opening encounter to AS Monaco, it’s time for the Catalan club to turn the tide in their favor.
The team is buoyed by the return of Frenkie de Jong, who is set to play competitive football for the first time since April. Hansi Flick, having rotated the team in the weekend against Osasuna at a cost, will name a strong line-up in the Champions League.
As per SPORT, Hansi Flick has one major confusion when it comes to deciding the line-up for the Young Boys clash. The German coach is in a dilemma on whether to start Ferran Torres or Pablo Torre in attack alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
If Ferran is given the nod, Raphinha will occupy the #10 role and if Torre is given the nod, then the Brazilian will continue his left-wing role. Alternatively, the likes of Pau Victor and Ansu Fati could also make a case to start against Young Boys.
The report reveals that the backline is set to be fairly straightforward with Inigo Martinez and Balde coming back into the XI to partner Pau Cubarsi and Jules Kounde. Pedri and Marc Casado are the only options in midfield with Eric Garcia’s suspension.
Torre has had an impressive display in the games he has played so far but his ball retention needs to improve. As good as he is without the ball, he sometimes makes the wrong decision, and that needs to stop happening on the biggest stage.
Ferran on the other hand has flattered to deceive so far this season. The Barcelona #7 needs to put in a performance to silence his critics and rediscover his confidence. Let’s wait and see how it goes against Young Boys and who Flick decides to start, eventually.
