Barcelona defender Julian Araujo

Barcelona coaching staff not convinced with winter arrival, could leave on loan

The right-back slot at FC Barcelona has been a topic of uncertainty for some time now. With injuries, departures, and inconsistent performers over the seasons, the club has been on the lookout for a reliable and long-term solution. While Jules Kounde has stepped up and made the role his own, he is seen as more of a central defender than a right-back at the club.

One of the long-term options at the club is Mexican defender Julian Araujo, who completed a €4 million move to FC Barcelona on the final day of the January transfer window. The 20-year-old arrived from MLS club LA Galaxy and was initially planned to be incorporated into Barca Atletic, with a long-term view to joining the first team.

However, it appears that Araujo has yet to convince Barcelona’s coaching staff, including manager Xavi, of his abilities as per the reports from SPORT. Consequently, he is expected to be loaned out next season to gain more playing time and experience.

Despite struggling to make an impact in his early days at the club, Araujo is seen as a promising young talent and could potentially have a bright future at Barcelona. His speed and attacking prowess make him a good fit for Xavi’s system, but he will need to work on his defensive skills to fully establish himself at the club. As a result, a loan move could be a great opportunity for Araujo to showcase his abilities and earn a place in the first team in the future.

Overall, while Araujo may not be in contention for regular first-team football this season due to his contractual situation, his potential and talent make him a valuable asset. It will be interesting to see how he progresses and whether he can eventually establish himself as a key player for the club.
