FC Barcelona continue to aim for greater things as they focus on their objectives one step at a time. With the summer transfer window currently moving in full swing given that its days are now numbered, Barcelona must tend to several concerns.
While the arrivals and departures of this summer transfer window remain the priority at this point in time, and those at FC Barcelona are fully aware of the limitations they possess both economically and in terms of the time left to finalize these agreements, there is another major matter that now has a date to be settled as per a certain source.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez will address the contract extension of the Barcelona coach in September after the conclusion of the ongoing summer transfer window, as the club and coach both primarily wish to focus on the keys of this summer to improve the squad.
With his current contract ending in 2024, Xavi and Barcelona are both aware that an extension must be addressed as soon as possible if both entities wish to continue working side by side moving forward.
At the moment, the coach understands that the priority focus remains on ensuring certain players arrive and depart. Thus, the Barcelona coach and the club will address the case of his extension in September once the window is over and the financial extents can be more easily concluded.
While balancing the salary limits and economic margins remains the priority for now, Xavi’s own comments about his potential renewal have been positive as he addressed the ordeal as being very likely and something he looks forward to, and Barcelona president Joan Laporta also having made his faith in the coach be known quite publicly.
The new Sporting Director of Barcelona, Deco, will be expected to lead the operation to renew Xavi Hernandez and be responsible to ensure certain things are concluded upon. Having initially arrived on a rather low salary, Xavi has since gone on to win the Catalan giants two key titles in his first full season and will likely be expecting a greater financial package in terms of his salary and that would be something Barcelona understand and wish to do for their manager as well.
