FC Barcelona and La Masia are developing some amazing new talents, especially in the attacking sector. From among these talents, Lamine Yamal is arguably the brightest, and the Catalan club is taking steps to tie his future with the club for the long term.
The player is just about to turn 16 years of age this July, which will allow him to sign his first professional contract. As being 16 years old would make other clubs aware of the youngster’s situation, FC Barcelona are trying to sign a renewal with the player as soon as possible.
According to Fabrizio Romano, FC Barcelona are in advanced negotiations with Yamal’s new agent, Jorge Mendes. The player has recently changed his agent from Ivan de la Pena to the Portuguese super-agent. The good relationship between Joan Laporta and Jorge Mendes has been a key factor in facilitating the agreement between Yamal and Barcelona.
The Catalan club is clearly keen to extend the contract of the player, as he enjoys the faith and confidence of Xavi Hernandez and other first-team coaches. Xavi has already called him up for training sessions with the first team, and the player was also included in the squad list for a match against Atletico de Madrid.
If everything goes as planned, and Yamal and Barcelona end up binding their futures together for the long term, Yamal can very well go on to become an important part of the first-team squad. Thus, the club would be expecting that he can follow in the footsteps of Balde and Gavi, to develop from the youth academy, into one of the highly rated players playing in Europe.
