Several youngsters from La Masia and the FC Barcelona reserve teams are playing a very prominent part in the first team this season. While the spotlight is taken by the likes of Fermin Lopez, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Cubarsi, other players have taken a step up too.
One such player is the striker Marc Guiu, who has already come in handy for Xavi to get him some much-needed points. The Spaniard is a highly talented young forward, who can surely grow to become a top-class striker in years to come.
However, he is not the only striker who is making himself known in Barcelona youth categories. Another forward, Pau Victor, who is on loan from Girona and is playing at Barcelona Atletic this season, is also performing at a very high level.
Up to now, the 22-year-old has scored 14 goals with the B team, i.e., 36% of the total 38 goals scored by Rafa Marquez’s team. He has reached such numbers despite not playing in three matches, missing one with suspension, and another two because he was called up to the first team.
Barcelona are naturally impressed by his performances, and according to Mundo Deportivo, have been considering paying his €3 million release clause to get him permanently from Girona. In fact, Barcelona are quite clear about their interest in the player and believe investing in him now can be a profitable venture in the coming years.
The forward has a contract till 2025 with the other Catalan club and opted to play for the Barcelona reserve team this season as he believed this would be a good career move for him. The player has definitely proved himself right with his performances in Marquez’s team.
He has also been called up to the first team by Xavi five times this season but is yet to make his debut. However, the 22-year-old forward considers himself ready for the first team. For now, he is fully focused on Barcelona Atletic and wants to help his team get to the promotion play-offs.
