While most of the reports related to FC Barcelona currently are concerned with their market operations aimed at improving the squad ahead of the next season, there are some significant changes expected in the scouting and technical areas as well.

Thus, the Catalans are not only active in the market for new players but are also keeping a close eye to assess if an interesting and competent candidate is available to reinforce their technical area.

In this regard, one of the individuals who has caught their eye is the former Barcelona player, Fernando Navarro, who gained valuable administrative and technical experience while working with the famed Sevilla Director, Monchi.

Navarro left Sevilla last April and has already been recommended to Deco, and according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona Sporting Director has already held a meeting with him to get to know him, and understand his current situation.

The former Sevilla and Barcelona player already has a friend at a high place in the Catalan club, i.e., Xavi Hernandez. But even beyond this friendship, Navarro has achieved enough in his career to get a place in the Barcelona administrative circle.

Furthermore, Xavi’s own position in Barcelona is highly precarious, and it is difficult to imagine him being in a position to influence the top brass to appoint Navarro.

However, one problem that can arise in his appointment is that his responsibilities at Sevilla were the same that Bojan Krkic currently has at the Blaugrana club, and the latter enjoys the full confidence of Deco.

Before becoming the right-hand man of Monchi at Sevilla, Navarro also had a quite successful playing career at the Andalusian club, with whom he played 282 matches, and won three titles, one Copa del Rey and two UEFA Europa Leagues. The Mexican defender lifted the latter of these UEL trophies as a Sevilla captain in 2015.
