The winter transfer window will be an opportunity for FC Barcelona to reinforce the team. However, the primary problem for the Catalan giants heading into January will definitely be their financial limitations. Despite this, the Blaugranes seem determined to poke around in the market.

In recent times, it has been rather difficult for La Liga teams to compete with other leagues in all honesty. The restrictions and limitations imposed by the Spanish league are far more strict than those of their competitors. However, this may not be the case in January for Barcelona and other Spanish sides.

According to the latest news from Esport3, La Liga is set to be more lenient heading into the winter window. The intention is to increase the spending amount allowed to Spanish clubs exceeding their wage limit. Previously, this amount was originally capped at being 25% of the savings made by a club.

However, since last summer, this percentage was drastically increased to 50%. Now, knowing the requirements of various teams, La Liga has decided to increase this limit even further. As per the report, this limit is now going to be increased to 60%.

Clubs like Barcelona, who are already exceeding their wage limit, will heavily benefit from this. With Barcelona hoping to incorporate both Vitor Roque and an additional midfielder, this increased spending limit could help the Catalan club out significantly in their quest to do so.

The season is still long, and thus this little improvement in the Financial Fairplay can go a long way. As per the report, if a La Liga club makes their savings from a player whose salary represents 5% of the entire squad’s, that 60% would change to an even bigger 70%.

Moreover, these changes are set to stay in application until the summer transfer window of 2024. That should give Barcelona, and other sides, plenty of time to make use of these more lenient FFP rulings. However, it is yet to be seen when and exactly how this new flexible imprint on the rules will be implemented.
