Former FC Barcelona defender, who currently plays in Ligue 1, has recently been garnering interest from clubs beyond the French league. Courtesy of his solid performances this season, there is a strong sense that sooner or later a team will decide to splash the cash on him, and Barcelona themselves would consequently capitalize as well.
Jean-Clair Todibo, currently 23 years old, was acquired by FC Barcelona in 2019 from French side Toulouse for a fee of around €1 million, and since then had been unable to live up to the expectations that were thought of him.
The player was then sent on multiple loans, to the likes of German side Schalke as well as Portuguese side SL Benfica, before finally being sent on a third loan to OGC Nice, which would eventually turn out to become a permanent transfer when Nice would pay Barcelona a price of €8.5 million for his permanent services.
Following what has been an impactful 2022/2023 season from the Frenchman, he continues to attract interest from the likes of various clubs, including interest from major clubs from the Premier League. The likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in the player, as per Mundo Deportivo.
Currently contracted to Nice till at least 2027, the 23-year-old would guarantee a fee close to his current market value and there is no fear of making a loss, as FC Barcelona have rather profited significantly from the various loan and transfer fees they have been able to generate from their ex-player.
FC Barcelona had a prior clause added to the conditions when OGC Nice signed the Frenchman, and one of these particular clauses stated that any future sale of the player would mean that 20% of any generated income would go straight to the Catalan club.
With the player valued at €30 million, FC Barcelona are hoping to pocket a decent portion of around €6 million should he be transferred.
