At this point, Barcelona would do anything to hear some good news after everything that has happened with Marc Bernal and the transfer market. Finally, there seems to be some reason to rejoice for fans. We just covered a story that Frenkie de Jong could return to action against Girona after the international break.
Quick on the heels of that news, it has emerged that one more Barcelona player could be close to returning to action. As per reporter Achraf Ben Ayad, 21-year-old attacker Ansu Fati is close to returning from his injury and could be back at Hansi Flick’s disposal after the international break.
Fati has had a miserable few years with numerous injury issues. He has struggled to stay fit for sustained periods and even when he has, he has looked a pale shadow of the 16-year-old version who broke through from La Masia. Fati looks to be lacking confidence whenever he plays.
Barcelona sent the 21-year-old out on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League in a bid to get him regular minutes. He started off well under Roberto de Zerbi but things quickly went South after Fati suffered another injury and could not work his way back into the Italian manager’s plans ever since.
Fati returned to pre-season training with Barcelona under Hansi Flick and made an instant impression. It looked like he would be one of the players the German boss would count on this season but unfortunately, he suffered yet another injury just before the pre-season tour to the USA.
With the player now set to return to action in another half month’s time, fans will be hoping that this is the last of Fati’s injury issues. Hansi Flick’s training regimes have had a significant influence on the team’s fitness levels during games and one will hope he can do the same for the Spaniard.
The silver lining for Fati is that he is just 21 years old. Considering how early he broke into the first team, he still has enough time to rediscover his best form and become one of the club’s most important players. Once destined for greatness, his career seems to be going nowhere at the moment.
With his versatility, Flick could choose to use Fati anywhere across his forward line once the Spaniard returns. This should give the 21-year-old enough opportunities to make a case for him to be a part of the Barcelona squad going forward.
Barcelona fans would love nothing more than to see Fati succeed in the Garnet and Blue jersey. He is a La Masia prodigy and it would be great if he could rediscover his best form and help the club not just this season but for years to come.
