FC Barcelona continue to showcase their strength so far under Hansi Flick this season. In many ways, the Catalan giants have looked invincible and for good reason. However, while Barcelona do look like a formidable challenge for any team, they still have weaknesses that are not immune to being exploited.

One such glaring weakness in this team, so far at least, has been the overall squad depth. While there are some great players who can play as starters for Barcelona under Hansi Flick, there is a great discrepancy when it comes to the quality of players that are present as backups in various positions.

As such, La Blaugrana are considering the possibility of recovering one of their former players to help strengthen the team. Oscar Mingueza, now aged 25, has been a key player for Celta Vigo this season and his form has established the fact that he is a force to be reckoned with in La Liga right now.

Fortunately for Barcelona, there is still a clause that would help the Catalan giants secure his services again for a rather low price. According to SPORT, while the player has a release clause of €20 million, La Blaugrana would only need to pay half of that to bring him back.

Even Marco Garces, the football director of Celta Vigo, confirmed this when clarifying the situation of Mingueza’s contract and Barça’s involvement in it:

“Barcelona holds a right of first refusal and 50% of any future sale. They do not have a buyback option.”

However, while Barcelona could be considering the possibility of signing Mingueza, Celta Vigo’s stance remains clear. The La Liga outfit would like to ideally retain the Spanish defender as they consider him to be a reliable asset and a regular player for them as well.

Barcelona, on the other hand, believe that he could be a quality alternative option to Jules Kounde. So far, Hector Fort has played that role as the secondary right-back, but his opportunities so far have been quite infrequent. Mingueza, however, could provide enough quality for Hansi Flick to reconsider how much importance to give him.
