The primary objective for FC Barcelona in any summer transfer window is to improve the squad. Sometimes it can be a drastic improvement, and other times it can be a slight one as well. Ultimately, however, the objective of Barcelona remains to build a squad capable enough to compete against any team in the world.
Unfortunately, for the last few seasons, complications have come up every time Barça has tried to pursue high profile signings. Due to the Financial Fairplay issues that continue to plague the club, La Blaugrana have been quite limited in the type of players they have been able to bring in, as well as various registration issues.
However, heading into the summer transfer window, it is now being revealed by SPORT that Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is on the club’s agenda. For Barcelona, the German star is a player who possesses the quality and attributes to be quite beneficial for the team.
Especially against low blocks, the club believes that only Lamine Yamal has the one-on-one capability to open up defensive structures. By acquiring Musiala, Barcelona would be much more suited to take on essentially any kind of team that comes up against them.
However, Musiala will not be a cheap acquisition and Bayern will likely demand a massive transfer fee. Fortunately, it will not be the transfer fee, which could be the new release clause entered into the player’s ongoing contract negotiations with the Bavarian club, that will primarily be an issue.
Instead, to bring in the highly rated German star who Hansi Flick sees as his dream signing as per the report, Barcelona will need to make room in the salary space. To do that, the club sees the exit of Frenkie de Jong as a key situation given the club captain’s reluctance to agree to a contract renewal, combined with the fact that his performances have been rather disruptive and inconsistent.
Even then, there is a lot of time left between now and the summer transfer window. It remains to be seen what Barcelona hopes to accomplish by then, but with the club now back in the 1:1 rule, it would not be beyond La Blaugrana to chase some high-profile signings in that window.
All the best barca
