It is no secret that FC Barcelona wants to reinforce several positions in the team. The Catalan giants have been held back at times this season already due to that specific lack of options at times. Thus, for the summer transfer window, Barcelona have put together an objective to sign a new pivot.
However, their financial problems continues to persist and be bothersome for the team. La Blaugrana know that they can not spend aimlessly, and must instead look for the best budget-friendly options. At the same time, they also have to keep their sporting objectives and integrity intact.
One player who fits both their economic needs as well their sporting ideals is Aleix Garcia. Captain and midfielder of Catalan side Girona, he is a player quite liked by La Blaugrana. Moreover, he has himself recognized his desire to one day play for Barcelona, something that his coach Michel did not exactly approve of.
At the same time, what Michel and Girona do approve of is a certain 22-year-old Las Palmas defender. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Girona are interested in UD Las Palmas player Mika Marmol, who just so happens to be a former Barcelona player from their subsidiary.
Moreover, Barcelona continues to have certain clauses in his contract that allow them to have a say in his future. At the moment, his termination clause is reportedly set at €10 million, and that is exactly what Barcelona hope to use in order to lower the price tag for Aleix Garcia.
La Blaugrana plan to use a deal involving both Marmol, who Barça have a sell-on clause for, alongside direct cash to ensure the arrival of Aleix Garcia. Knowing that they do not see Marmol having a future in the Barcelona first team, the Catalan giants believe an economic benefit from him would be their best bet.
Despite his great talent and potential, Barcelona already have a great influx of players in that centre-back position. Garcia, on the other hand, would bring both quality and depth to a specific role in the team that La Blaugrana definitely need to work on.
