FC Barcelona are currently focused on turning their ship around for the rest of the season. Recent games have seen La Blaugrana struggle against weaker opponents. As a result, this is a trend that Xavi and Barça are working on to resolve as soon as possible.
However, just as their players were beginning to return from injury, another crisis struck. Key midfield star Gavi is now injured and sidelined with an ACL injury.
Unfortunately, his recovery is expected to keep him out for the rest of the season. His loss is surely being felt already at Barça, and will continue to do so as the season progresses.
Yet, despite the cloudy feelings, it appears that Barcelona may just have some good news. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barça have just recently received information from La Liga that could help them out in the upcoming January transfer window.
Originally, their initial hopes of bringing in Brazilian talent Vitor Roque to Barcelona in January had been jeopardized. However, it would now appear that Gavi’s injury could be a blessing in disguise.
As per the report, Barcelona can allocate 80% of the player’s salary into the acquisition funds required to incorporate Roque until June of next year.
While the Catalan giants will ultimately have to register him with the adequate financial fair play, it would still provide them with a temporary window to facilitate Roque for half a season beforehand. This news comes as a great positive but SPORT reports that Barcelona will await written confirmation.
Apart from just the talented Athletico Paranaense striker, Barça also continue to scout midfielders. La Blaugrana, and Xavi Hernandez in particular, hope to find a strong option to bring in for the short term.
An extra recruit is being scouted at least for the remainder of this ongoing campaign. Apart from any new acquisitions, however, Xavi still remains optimistic about the squad’s depth that is already at his disposal at Barcelona.
