FC Barcelona and Girona are two clubs that are close not only in physical proximity but also close on a sporting level. The Blaugranes have two of their players, Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre, playing under Michel, while one of the Girona-owned players is also currently playing at Barcelona.
This player is Pau Victor, who was also liked by Michel at Girona. The Girona coach had the 22-year-old as his third option in the pecking order, behind Dubvic and Stuani, but the striker joined Barcelona as he believed the opportunity to train at one of the biggest clubs in the world was too good to pass.
Victor spent the last season on loan at Sabadell but accepted another loan move this season to Barcelona as a stepping stone in his career.
His time at the Blaugrana club has gone quite well up to now, as he has become the top scorer for Barca Atletic, having scored 11 goals and given 2 assists in 16 appearances.
Owing to this good performance, SPORT reports that the Catalans are determined to keep the footballer and permanently purchase him.
Barcelona will not have to negotiate with Girona for this purpose, and can permanently get the player for €3 million. At the moment, the Blaugrana officials believe it would be a good investment opportunity, and getting the player for this sum can prove to be beneficial in coming years.
Once they get the full rights to the player, Barcelona can decide whether to keep him for the first-team, or sell him to some other club to get a quick profit.
Victor is already attracting the attention of several clubs, and his demand will grow even further when he makes his first team debut under Xavi.
The Barcelona head coach has called him up to train with the first team several times, but he faces tough competition from Marc Guiu and Vitor Roque. However, he has the added value of being able to play both in the centre and at the wings.
