Hector Bellerin joined FC Barcelona as a free agent in the last summer transfer window, as he had obtained a letter of freedom from his long-term club Arsenal. The Spaniard had been a product of La Masia and had been dreaming of returning to his boyhood club ever since he had left for the Premier League. However, while he was able to return to Camp Nou, his time in Catalonia since then has not been ideal.
The player has barely featured in Xavi’s team and is not trusted by the coach despite there being no clear favorite in the squad for the right-back position. Now, the club is looking for an exit route for the Spaniard, and one such route has been offered to them by Sporting de Portugal.
As already reported, Sporting’s main right back, Pedro Porro, is expected to complete his transfer to Tottenham Hotspurs, and the Portuguese club is in the market for another right back to keep their team competitive. They have identified Bellerin as a suitable candidate, and the Spaniard himself is open to joining Sporting, primarily attracted by their presence in the Champions League.
A recent report by Javier Miguel claims that the player has already bid farewell to his teammates in Barcelona, as his transfer to Sporting is about to be completed. His departure will free-up up to €250,000 from the club’s wage bill, thus providing the club with much-needed breathing space.
