FC Barcelona and Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araujo has recently just received an update on Transfermarkt regarding his current market value. The immense defender has been vital for Barcelona’s success on the field this season and this sudden boost in his market value is indefinitely a consequence of that.

Araujo sees his value rise from €60 million to now €70 million following the latest 23rd March update on the Transfermarkt website. The player has moreover seen his value almost double over the past year, with him having been valued at €40 million by March of last year. With his new value, he is now amongst the highest valued central defenders in Europe, alongside the likes of Manchester City’s Ruben Dias and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, with both valued at 75 million euros individually.

Strong, tall, technically improved and a complete leader on the field, it remains no surprise that Ronald Araujo is amongst the most valued central defenders in the world as of right now.

Barcelona will now be hoping to register the Uruguayan’s new contract as soon as possible, one that has already been signed and agreed upon by both parties but is yet to be officially recognized by La Liga due to Barcelona exceeding their current salary limit.

Currently, the third highest valued player within the Catalan squad, behind only young gems Pedri and Gavi, the registration of Ronald Araujo’s new contract is an absolute priority for FC Barcelona. Upon recognition, his new release clause of €1 billion, similar to the likes of Pedri and Gavi, will become active and allow La Blaugrana to ensure the continuity of one of their star assets.
