Ronald Araujo arrived in Barcelona, following his national team’s exit from the ongoing FIFA World Cup on the 5th of December, and underwent a medical assessment to check the current status of his recovery and the timeframe of his return to full fitness by Dr. Ricard Pruna.
It was pre-decided that he would take a few days off after returning from the World Cup and after the coach’s approval, he was allowed to take one week off. The Uruguayan defender opted for a vacation in Punta del Este, a destination in his country to spend some time relaxing, away from the otherwise stressful life as an athlete.
The past few weeks have not been a smooth sail for the Uruguayan defender. He received a call-up from his national team’s head coach Diego Alonso, hoping he could feature for his national team and play a pivotal role in the knockout stages of the prestigious competition.
However, Uruguay got knocked out in the group stages which meant that the player ended up without getting any game time in the tournament.
The Uruguayan center-back has now returned to Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to resume his recovery process after a week’s vacation. The main aim is to make him available without taking any sort of risk to avoid any unfortunate relapse before the club heads into the Derby against RCD Espanyol at Spotify Camp Nou on the 31st of December.
