FC Barcelona have recently had to endure an onslaught of perilous injuries that have caused major tactical and sporting concern. With an all-to-play for El Clasico right on the horizon, some much-needed good news was all the more welcome among the Barcelona fanbase.

Uruguayan center-back Ronald Araujo has arguably been Barcelona’s saving grace when it comes to the defensive aspect of the team on multiple occasions. The player has been used several times as a contingency plan for Real Madrid’s notoriously dangerous winger, Brazil’s Vinicius Junior.

His effectiveness in front of the Uruguayan defender is typically quite suppressed as compared to his usually brilliant standard, and this strategy has allowed Barcelona to nullify Real Madrid as a whole on certain occasions.

When news broke out following the previous El Clasico on the 20th of March that Araujo had suffered an adductor injury, it caused major strife and panic amongst the Blaugrana faithful. Yet, as reports kept emerging and updating, the realization that the central defender would not be unavailable for too long of a duration was seen as extraordinarily great news.

Coming to present-day updates, recent news updates suggested Araujo was recovering quite well and may even be available for the game against Elche but may end up being rested. These reports ended up being quite accurate, as the player has returned to group training with the squad as per images of the training session released by the official FC Barcelona platforms.

Moreover, Ronald Araujo has been included in the 21-man squad list for the visit to Elche and there remains a possibility that he may even feature for a few minutes during the said game.
