Barcelona defender set to accept the renewal offer

FC Barcelona captain, veteran, and La Masia product Sergi Roberto has accepted the second proposal offered by the Catalan giants as per the recent reports from Relevo.

The details of the contract are not yet fully disclosed, but it continues to be reported that the captain will renew until 2024 and has accepted terms that put him amongst the lowest earners at the club, being on a salary similar to the one he is currently on.

The veteran has appeared 18 times during this season so far for FC Barcelona and continues to be a vital support player, showing Xavi exactly why he can still be counted on as a reliable asset for the team and for Xavi’s future plans.

It is obvious that the manager possibly values the player’s experience and knowledge within the team’s dynamics and prefers to keep him for one more year until 2024 than let him leave in the coming summer. Similar to the situation with Sergio Busquets, it seems as if Xavi wants both La Masia graduates and veterans to stay with the club for at least one more season.
