With the returns of players like Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Dani Olmo, and Fermin Lopez, the defense is now one of the areas of this FC Barcelona team that remains quite thin because of injuries.

Two key center-backs, Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen, have been unavailable for Hansi Flick for quite some time now, and although there has been some positive news about the return of the former, a recent development on the latter meant that he will still need some time to return to the pitch.

As already reported, this development was Christensen undergoing a minor surgery recently, to treat the tendinopathy in his left foot that he has been suffering from since 2022.

This problem has kept him from playing without pain since that time, but at the start of this season, his situation worsened and he had to remain on the sidelines to recover from this issue.

First, he preferred taking a conservative approach to recover from this problem, but as the results were not satisfactory, the Barcelona defender decided to undergo this minor surgery in Sweden.

According to Mundo Deportivo, this medical intervention took place three weeks ago, and the defender got his stitches removed this past Monday.

Although this surgery can disturb the recovery process of the Dane, Barcelona are downplaying its importance, and believes Christensen will still be able to return to training in 15 to 20 days.

Then gradually he will start training on the pitch. For now, what is certain is that he will not be able to play till January 1st as Barcelona had registered Dani Olmo in his stead when he was injured.

Hansi Flick has already told the player to take his time to recover from this issue, so he can return in the best shape possible, without any discomfort, which is more of a possibility after this latest operation.
