FC Barcelona received a big blow when Jules Kounde left the pitch in the first half against Granada with an injury suffered after an accidental collision with his own teammate, Gavi.

The Frenchman has been one of the most trusted players in the squad for Xavi, and with his injury, he will join other highly important players like Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski in the infirmary.

Kounde out for around a month

The tests undertaken on the defender after the Granada match showed that he has a sprain in the medial collateral ligament of his left knee, and this injury can keep him out of action for around one month.

However, this timeframe is not confirmed, and his return will be ultimately be determined on how well he recovers in the coming days.

While his presence is highly important for Xavi for all the matches, he will particularly be missed in the match against Real Madrid on 28th October.

Message on social media

After coming to terms with this latest blow suffered, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Kounde has posted a heartfelt message on his social media in which he talked about his desire to come back as soon as possible and thanked Barcelona fans for their support in this difficult time:

“Injured, yes; defeated, never. It could have been much worse… already thinking about coming back as soon as possible, but above all, in the best possible way. [There are] nights when nothing smiles at you… Proud of my team and their character in the face of adversity. This is a long journey, and we won’t stop being optimistic. Culers, thank you for your messages.”

Injuries are a normal part of footballer’s life, especially when accumulating as many minutes as Kounde has been this season. Hopefully, he can return as soon as possible for Barcelona and get back to his best to help the Catalans get another great season filled with trophies and glory.
