FC Barcelona had a very successful summer transfer window as they were able to incorporate a number of very good players even amid the financial crunch being faced by the club. Ilkay Gundogan, Oriol Romeu, Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix, and Inigo Martinez were all acquired by the club, thus significantly enhancing the quality of players available to Xavi.
However, it is not only Barcelona among the Spanish teams who have a good summer transfer window, as their traditional rivals, Real Madrid, are also reaping the fruits of one particular signing they made in the summer.
Christensen praises Bellingham
Jude Bellingham is having a fiery start to his life at Real Madrid and has already scored eight goals and given two assists in eight La Liga games up to now. As already reported here, he is also the favorite to win the Golden Boy Award this year. As SPORT has reported, one of Barcelona’s defenders, Andreas Christensen, recently recognized his excellent start to the season in a recent interview:
“The beginning of Bellingham for Madrid? It’s annoying when you sit down and look at the results and see what he’s achieving. He’s been scoring in almost every recent match and deciding games. I don’t even know how many goals he has scored anymore.”
The defender also recognized that Barcelona’s rivals got a great deal as they got Bellingham in the summer:
“He has conquered the league in these early games. It’s true that Madrid has ended up signing a great player who can be decisive in many matches.”
Christensen to replace Kounde against Athletic Club
Barcelona will get to test the latest Madrid acquisition’s quality first-hand as they face Real Madrid on 28th October. Meanwhile, Christensen himself will be looking to improve his situation at Barcelona and get into the starting eleven for the upcoming match against Athletic Club and also for El Clasico, especially with Jules Kounde out with an injury.
