Although they have not really been missed, FC Barcelona has still been without some of their most important players at the start of the 2024-25 season.
Hansi Flick has been unable to count on key defenders like Ronald Araujo, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, and Andreas Christensen, while other players, such as Marc Bernal and Marc Andre Ter Stegen, have also suffered long-term injuries.
However, during the last international break, the Barcelona coach saw three midfielders return from their injuries: Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, and Gavi.
Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that another important player, Ronald Araujo, can return to availability in the coming weeks, as he shared some images of himself working on the pitch for the first time since his injury. Barcelona are expecting the Uruguayan to be back available after the next international break.
In the photos that Araujo published on his social media, one also had an encouraging message from the defender, which ran as: “With faith, there are no insurmountable obstacles, only steps towards God’s promise.”
The Uruguayan defender had suffered a torn right hamstring as he represented his national side in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Copa America on 7th July. He had to undergo surgery in Finland to recover from this issue, and it has been five weeks since he started his recovery process at the club training facilities.
The La Liga match between Barcelona and Celta Vigo on November 23 can see the defender return to the pitch. If he is not ready by that date, he might get some minutes in the following UCL clash against Stade Brestois at the Montjuic three days later.
For now, the centre-back continues to recover from his injury, and will only be able to watch from the sidelines as his Barcelona team faces some difficult foes in Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
