FC Barcelona arrive at a point of their season where many things can be decided. Their first test came in the form of FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League. Winning this game or having a result that is favorable for La Blaugrana was crucial, as it allowed them to qualify for the knockout stages.
Alas, they did what they had to and managed to emerge as 2-1 victors. Now, even as they get ready to face their upcoming challenges, Barcelona simultaneously remain focused on the recruitment plan for the summer of 2024 in order to make certain decisions beforehand.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, one such incorporation that they remain attentive to is that of Alex Valle. Already a player for Barcelona, the young left-back is currently on loan at Levante and is performing quite well. Moreover, Bojan Krkic has been tasked with monitoring his evolution as well.
Krkic’s current role within the Barcelona offices dictates that he keep in touch with the various loan players and transitioning youngsters of the team. Having once been a youngster from La Masia as well, Krkic possibly understands the pressure and expectations better than most.
As such, his visit to check up on Valle seemed to have proven useful. First and foremost, it allowed Krkic to get in touch with Valle in regards to his recent injury that has kept him sidelined for the last four games. Moreover, he was able to secure a better analysis of his performance.
Thus far, the 19-year-old fullback has featured on 12 different occasions for the Valencia-based side. Across these games, he has accumulated 1043 minutes of playing time in the Segunda Division.
For now, Barcelona have the idea of recovering Valle for next season and incorporating him into the first team. They hope to utilize him as a backup and competitor for Alejandro Balde’s spot as the starting left-back.
Moreover, this would prove to be a great direct replacement for Marcos Alonso, whose contract runs out in the same summer.
