FC Barcelona have won the league title after several seasons, and the team’s defense played a central part in this achievement. However, there are already reports that the club may struggle to keep its defensive core going into the next season.

FC Barcelona have been truly watertight this season. The team has only conceded 18 goals in La Liga this season, and a big chunk of these goals conceded have come after the club had already wrapped up the league title.

The backline of Kounde, Araujo, Christensen, and Balde has been particularly impressive, as they kept even some of the best attackers in the world quiet in matches against the Blaugrana.

However, there have been reports in the last few days that one of the integral parts of this backline is not very happy at the club. The player in question is Jules Kounde, who has allegedly told the club, higher-ups, to either play him in his preferred center-back position, or let him leave for another club for the next season.

In this regard, SPORT has reported the comments made by Alemany in a media interview. The Director of Football decided against disclosing the facts of the matter, as he said that it was an internal matter for the club and would be dealt with internally. However, he showed a concern that there was reality in the reports of Kounde having made such a demand.

He also provided an insight on the club’s negotiations with La Liga and disclosed that the club was looking to solve the issue of registering players for the next two seasons and getting an idea of how much they can spend on new players this window.

Lastly, he also provided his opinion about the issue of racism, especially the case of racist insults to Vinicius in Valencia, to which he replied that the law must take its course and punish the involved individuals.

Thus, Alemany’s remarks, while not giving away much, still show a concern about Kounde’s presence at the club going forward. He has been impressive in the first season at the club, and Barcelona should ensure they can keep the Frenchman at the club as he can contribute significantly to the team’s successes.
