There are no guarantees at FC Barcelona, both on and off the pitch. The Blaugranes have just endured a challenging season, and the future remains uncertain. Amidst the turmoil, one Barcelona update seems to be gaining consensus among various outlets.

The update in question revolves around the fragile future of Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez and his continuity with the club. Despite there having been previous evidence of the club looking to continue with Xavi, a massive change in the tides is now expected.

As per Catalan journalist Gerard Romero (h/t Barca Times), two massive positions and figures at Barcelona could see their jobs and positions be in danger. The first is Xavi Hernandez, head coach of the first team, and the second is Deco, the former Portuguese player currently serving as the team’s Sporting Director.

Mainly being reported as an aftermath of Xavi’s recent words that complained about Barça’s financial situation, it would appear that the wrath of Barcelona president Joan Laporta has finally reached its boiling point. Consequently, it would not come as a surprise to see Xavi being sacked in the coming few days.

For Deco, however, the update from the journalist is primarily his own belief according to the situation at hand: “I personally think the continuity of Deco is no longer a guarantee either.”

Previously, a lot of tension has remained over the futures of both Xavi and Deco. Reportedly not seen as compatible, especially given their sporting and managerial differences, and also according to rumors that claimed a level of frustration with one another’s progression, it has become rather telling that neither the Barcelona head coach nor the Director are seen as guarantees.

A lot of work still may need to be done before any final verdict comes out. With the summer transfer window coming up ahead, the Barcelona board and higher-ups, including President Laporta, may decide to finalize just how they want to go about this.

One thing seems certain, however, and that is the fact that actions will have dire consequences at Barcelona from now on.
