FC Barcelona came away with only a point against Rayo Vallecano. At the moment, the alarms may be raised by the media but they remain off within Barcelona. The Catalans continue to maintain faith in Xavi Hernandez, regardless of the external criticisms.
However, despite whatever criticism there may be or may not be, the current situation is unacceptable. For a club of the stature of Barcelona, repeated performances with vague and inspiring displays can not be tolerated.
As such, attention begins to be drawn towards the January transfer window. The recent season-ending injury to Gavi coupled with the problematic displays now warrants the arrival of reinforcements in the winter transfer window for Barcelona.
Accordingly, Deco has spoken about this issue publicly, as SPORT reports. As per the Brazilian Director at Barcelona, there is still uncertainty over a potential replacement for Gavi:
“What is clear is that we cannot sign a player like Gavi because there is no one like him in the market. So, let’s see which position we focus on.”
However, he did confirm something major. The arrival of Vitor Roque, as per Deco, is now an expected occurrence and it is being formulated simultaneously:
“Surely, Vitor [Roque] will come in January. We are discussing it, and I believe it’s heading in that direction.”
This means that at least one arrival in January is more or less guaranteed for Barcelona. At the moment, that name seems likely to be Vitor Roque. The current lack of goals is something Xavi will be desperate to resolve, and Roque’s arrival could be a massive boost in that department.
