Manchester United eyeing a summer swoop for Barcelona duo – report

Barcelona wrapped up the league title in a first-half demolition of Espanyol last Sunday. However, as the current season ends and the transfer market is about to begin, clubs across Europe are looking for ways to bolster their squad going into the upcoming season. Such activities at Manchester United can have significant implications for FC Barcelona.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the current owners of Manchester United, the Glazers, are looking to sell the club. To enhance the value of their asset before selling it, the Glazers aim to invest €500 million into the club, mainly in the form of bringing up to five high-profile players to its squad.

Two of these five players are currently at Camp Nou. Ronald Araujo is one of these players being monitored by Manchester United. The young defender has seen his stock rise significantly in the last few seasons and is one of the best players in his position.

However, his contract situation at FC Barcelona is complicated, as the registration of a new contract faces resistance from the league. The English side is looking to exploit this issue and sign him this summer, but FC Barcelona are not even contemplating such a move and will do their all to prevent such a move.

The second player in question is Frenkie de Jong, who was already close to joining the English side last summer, and has already played under their current coach, Eric ten Haag. However, the player himself is not too keen on such a move and would prefer to stay at FC Barcelona for a long time.

In addition to these Blaugrana players, the English club is also looking at several other players like Harry Kane, Dusan Vlahovic, and Victor Osimhen. However, the two Barcelona players in question are firmly set at the club and are unlikely to move in the coming transfer window.
