One of the main objectives for FC Barcelona in the upcoming winter transfer window is to incorporate the Brazilian Vitor Roque into the squad. The Catalans have already agreed with Athletico Paranaense for his purchase, but the club’s constraints with FFP keep them from finalizing his acquisition.

The Economic Vice President of Barcelona, Eduard Romeu, who is Laporta’s most trusted official at the club regarding economic matters, recently spoke to Mundo Deportivo in which he highlighted the state of economic affairs at the club.

Romeu comments on Roque’s arrival

The topic of Vitor Roque’s arrival was one of the subjects touched upon by the official in this interview. Regarding whether Barcelona will be able to get Vitor Roque in the winter or summer, Romeu commented:

“We will see how everything evolves. We have two transfer windows, one possible in January and another in June. It will depend on the technical side. As always, we will do everything possible to please the coach, who is in charge of this.”

FFP the main hindrance

Romeu then went on to highlight the main hindrance in Roque’s incorporation, and expressed that he and his team will do everything to fulfill Xavi’s wishes regarding the player:

“We have to generate enough ‘fair play,’ and as we have always said, we will do our best and the impossible to please the coach, as we have done to date. We are not suspected of not fulfilling it.”

Eduard Romeu has tried to assure that the club will do everything to get Roque. But as is clear from his comments, the Brazilian’s incorporation into the squad is not guaranteed at the moment.

However, Barcelona still have more than two months to turn things around, and can hopefully get into a situation to get the promising striker for the second half of the season.
