The main priority of FC Barcelona in this winter transfer window was to incorporate Vitor Roque into the squad, who had already been signed by the club in the last summer transfer window.
With the Brazilian’s arrival in Barcelona and his registration with La Liga, there is not a lot of market activity expected at the Catalan club, as the Blaugranes do not have the wage margin to get new players, and are not planning to sell any of their current players as Xavi already has a very thin squad.
However, SPORT reports that the club’s moves in the transfer market are not yet finished, and they can try to bring a midfielder to the club, but only if the sale of Barca Studios can be finalised.
After not having received the payments that were expected from the German investment fund Libero Group, the Catalans are in talks with two other interested parties.
The negotiations are complicated, but the club has already reached the final stretch of these talks. However, they will also have to discuss the expected income with La Liga so more signings can be authorised.
The Catalans are expecting an income of minimum €40 million at the time of the signing of the agreement. Such a boost to their finance will provide them with considerable space in their salary limit to get another player.
Meanwhile, the club is also looking for a suitable midfielder, and Xavi does not want any stop-gap solutions, but wants a midfielder who can contribute significantly to the team. Deco and his team has been working on several names, with the Girona captain, Aleix Garcia being the favourite of the coaching staff.
Other options like Amadou Onana from Everton have been discarded by Deco. But the time is short, and Barcelona will have to work extra hard in order to ensure the sale of Barca Studios, and then getting a midfielder who can help Xavi come up with important silverware at the end of the season.
