A Serbian, Stefan Mitrovic, is among the emerging youngsters that Barcelona scouts are currently monitoring with significant interest. The Red Star Belgrade winger is a rising star in the Serbian league and has attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Barcelona.

Owing primarily to their weakened financial conditions over the last few seasons, and also because of the greater financial muscle of Premier League sides and clubs backed by wealthy individuals, FC Barcelona have shifted their transfer policy to aim at signing rising potential stars while they are still within reasonable values.
