The last summer transfer window has just closed, but FC Barcelona are already on the lookout for players whom they can sign in the next summer window.
The Catalans strengthened both the midfield and the defense of the team with arrivals like Ilkay Gundogan, Oriol Romeu, Inigo Martinez, and Joao Cancelo.
On the other hand, the attack saw only the arrival of Joao Felix, while Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Ez Abde all departed the club. Vitor Roque was also signed, but he will not join the club until at least before January.
Barcelona interested in Nico Williams
Now Barcelona are looking at another attacking player that they want to get to the Catalan capital next summer. According to SPORT, the player in question is the Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who is still only 21 years old but has already established himself as one of the starters for the Basque team and has also been one of the best performers with the senior Spain side.
The player’s contract with the Basque Lions is ending at the conclusion of this season, and the Catalans have already made him one of their objectives for next summer transfer window. The Blaugranes have already been in contact with Nico’s agent, Felix Tainta.
Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao are also aware of the interest from Barcelona and are trying to tie him down for three more seasons.
Nico close to Barcelona players
One factor that can help the Catalans in their pursuit of the young forward is his closeness with other Barcelona players. Nico was inseparable from Cules in the national team camp and was observed to be especially close to Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde.
Thus, Yamal and Nico can be the long-term wingers for Barcelona from next season. Nico ticks all the boxes for Xavi’s team, as he is fast, young, and possibly comes for free. He also has a couple of seasons under his belt despite his youth, and would be a good fit at Barcelona.
