While he was in charge of the Barcelona team, one of the players that Xavi wanted to reinforce the attacking line of his squad was the Spanish international, Dani Olmo. In fact, the Terrassa-born coach wanted the RB Leipzig forward for several years, and there was consensus at the club about his acquisition.

Xavi had also undertaken a meeting with the player’s father in Qatar, during the last World Cup, to inquire about the possibility of the forward coming to Barcelona. Meanwhile, Deco had made similar inquiries about him from his representatives during the negotiations for Mika Faye’s renewal, as both players have the same representatives.

But with Xavi’s departure, there is no decrease in the desire of the Catalan club to land the Spanish international. According to SPORT, Deco still sees him as a versatile player who can fit in perfectly well with Flick’s team and can occupy several positions in the 4-2-3-1 that Flick deploys. Flick himself knows the player well enough from his time in the Bundesliga.

Furthermore, Olmo is also quite familiar with the style of play at Barcelona as he developed at La Masia before leaving for Croatia, and has also practiced the club’s preferred playing style while playing under Luis Enrique with the Spanish national team.

However, having a release clause of €60 million, getting him will not really be easy for Barcelona. This is especially the case as the player is comfortable at RB Leipzig and will leave only if a project offers him something truly exciting.

Several clubs other than Barcelona, including Tottenham Hotspurs, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich are also trying to lure the forward away from Leipzig this summer, so this will be another difficulty that the Catalans face in this operation.

But fortunately, he is not the only forward that Barcelona are keeping in their sights, and other enticing options, like Nico Williams and Luis Diaz, are also on the table for the Catalans.
