At 36 years of age, Robert Lewandowski is once again proving himself to be one of the most feared strikers in Europe. The Polish international has scored 12 goals in 11 appearances for FC Barcelona since the start of the 2024-25 season and is on course to have one of his personal best seasons.
The Blaugranes have benefitted a lot from Lewandowski’s upturn in form since the arrival of Hansi Flick, and the striker’s role will be pivotal if the Catalans are to have a successful season. However, keeping in view his advanced age, Barcelona will also have to start planning for life after him.
In this regard, the Blaugranes are already doing their homework, and the Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland, is reportedly their main target to be Lewandowski’s replacement.
However, according to Fichajes, Barcelona are also keeping their eyes on the Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, as a possible option to strengthen their attack next season. With Haaland as their priority target, Isak is an attractive alternative for the Catalan club.
The €75 million-rated Swede has been performing well since his move to the Premier League, and he has established himself as one of the key players in this Newcastle attack. He has scored 36 goals and provided 6 assists in 73 appearances so far for the Magpies, and has also impressed with his goalscoring ability, versatility, and adaptability across the attacking line.
Thus, he will be a very interesting option for Barcelona, as his age and profile make him particularly suitable for the club’s future plans. He also has experience playing in La Liga as he shone at Real Sociedad before joining the English side in 2022.
However, getting him will not really be easy for the Catalans, especially as the Magpies are aware of the interest in Isak from other big clubs, and are looking to renew his contract to significantly increase his wages.
