FC Barcelona has many talented young players within its squad. The Catalan club has long since been admired for their ability to produce such talents regularly. However, more often than not, the primary concern is always dealing with how to allocate minutes between these developing stars.

Gavi’s recent injury comes as a huge blow to Xavi and his Barça. The Catalan giants relied a lot on the 19-year-old Spanish midfielder this season and that dependence was expected to continue. The recent injury to his ACL, however, alters the plan for the entire season.

His tenacity, verticality, ambition, passion, and technical ability are just some of the traits that made Gavi so important. Xavi’s side lacks heart when they play without the young Golden Boy winner and it has reflected in their games.

However, Barcelona could just consider themselves to be lucky. In search of an adequate replacement from elsewhere, it seems that one already exists within the club. Daring, possessing special abilities beyond his years and a vicious passion to match them, the player arrives right from the academy.

Fermin Lopez, aged just 20, is highlighted by Mundo Deportivo as the rightful replacement to Gavi. In terms of stylistic contributions, both players are understandably different. However, when it comes to their passion and love for the Barcelona badge, the two are nearly inseparable.

Lopez offers a much more offensively gifted option compared to Gavi’s disruptive abilities in midfield. Whereas the injured superstar had the ability to derail opponents and win back possession, Lopez vows to offer much of the same and something different in attack as well.

Shots from distance are a particular forte of his, and he possesses that dynamic edge to him that midfielders of Barcelona are often too scared to showcase. Without a doubt, Barça should consider themselves fortunate enough to have the 20-year-old ready to take over.

Other good news is that both Frenkie De Jong and Pedri are now also available. Both the midfield stars are integral to Barcelona and their presence will undoubtedly help cover up the loss of Gavi for potentially the rest of the season.
