Barcelona forward linked with a move away from Camp Nou in January

It’s a known issue that Barçelona have a lot of quality in their squad. Due to the very same reason a lot of players are unable to get satisfactory playtime, and that has very much been the case with the Dutch forward, Memphis Depay.

Fate hasn’t been kind to him either, as he has been injured since he went for his National duty in September. He was on his way to recovery, but a setback has delayed his return for selection.

And new reports from the outlet Sport suggest that the player might leave on a free transfer in January. The reason can probably be Gametime since he’s in his prime years and staying at the bench is undoubtedly not his aim.

The possible destination is the Premier League, the report adds, where Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester United, where the player has played before at a younger age, are the teams interested in his services.

The player has also been linked to a move away from Camp Nou in the last summer window, with significant links to a move to Turin as Juventus wanted to sign him for free.

However, personal terms were the reason for the move not materializing earlier, as there was a difference in the demand for signing-on bonuses.

Why is the player keen on a free transfer? To possibly get in more suitors and the club understands that and want to repay his favors of arriving for free with a very lower wage here from Lyon by not standing on his exit path, as was evident in his summer transfer saga in the closing days.
