Despite the recent decline in form, FC Barcelona have had a good season domestically, and Robert Lewandowski has played an important part in it. However, he sustained an injury during yesterday’s training session, which may keep him out of action for some matches.

Barcelona currently sit atop the La Liga table with a 7-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid and have also advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. They were eliminated from the UEFA Europa League in the play-off round by Manchester United through a single-goal margin. Still, the improvements made by the team over the last season are clearly discernible.

However, the team has received some setbacks in recent weeks, that can potentially derail their entire season. Ousmane Dembele got injured in a La Liga match and is still out of action. Similarly, Pedri got injured in the Europa League game against Manchester United and is expected to be out of action for one month.

The club fans and squad received another blow yesterday as Robert Lewandowski was also injured during a training session. The Pole has been carrying the team’s attack for most of this season, as he has scored 25 goals and given 6 assists in his Barcelona career up to now.

He is also the most reliable of scorers in the current forward line and has brought more than just the goals and assists, as he is a vastly experienced player and one of the World’s best strikers.

As per recent reports this injury will keep Lewandowski out for around 2 weeks. While this period is not too long by football standards, this exact phase is crucial for the club as it will face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final, and have difficult ties against Valencia and Athletic club in La Liga.

Still, the silver lining for Barcelona fans is that he will be back in time for the league Classico, which will pit the two Spanish giants for the title charge against each other.
