One of the most in-form players for FC Barcelona since the start of this season is the winger Ferran Torres. After having performed below expectations since arriving at Barcelona for the last one and a half seasons, the Spanish forward has been on fire since the pre-season this summer.
This season, Torres has already scored five goals in four games for Barcelona and the Spanish national team and is currently scoring at a blazing rate of one goal every thirty-one minutes.
Torres helping the Portuguese duo adapt to the club
However, as SPORT reports, his role in the Barcelona squad goes beyond these goals on the pitch. The report claims that Ferran Torres is an integral member of the squad and is very close to a group of the most important players in Xavi’s team, which is led by Sergi Roberto.
One of the more important roles that Torres has been playing for the last few weeks is helping the Portuguese duo of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix adapt to their new club and team.
The winger already knows Joao Cancelo from his time at Valencia, as he joined the La Liga club in 2017 when Cancelo was already playing there. They then also played together at Manchester City and have a strong bond between them.
Bond with Lewandowski
Furthermore, the roles of all these three players on the pitch also make them close to each other. Torres has to work with Cancelo when he is playing at the right wing, while also having to connect frequently with Joao Felix as they both play in the attack.
His role in the forward line also makes him quite engaged with Robert Lewandowski, and in fact, he is one of the players closest to the Polish forward in the locker room. Both of them can communicate in English, and Torres has specifically worked with Lewandowski to improve his finishing, and its results can also be seen on the pitch.
