Barcelona has many names that are now considered veterans when it comes to El Clasico. Taking on eternal rivals Real Madrid, Barcelona are well aware of the pressure and confidence this particular game tests. However, the Catalan giants are well equipped in terms of players that are hard to break down.
Interestingly, not all such players at FC Barcelona are seasoned veterans. Some, despite their tender age, have proven to be just as formidable as the most experienced of players when it comes to El Clasico. From among such names, Gavi is one that stands out both for his youth and proven quality against Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old already has solid exposure when it comes to facing off against Real Madrid. A particular highlight from his many El Clasicos was the Spanish Supercup final in which he orchestrated a magnificent Barcelona victory by scoring and assisting twice to help La Blaugrana win 3-1.
Motherly advice
Speaking ahead of the game, the player had an interview with DAZN, as highlighted by SPORT. The Barcelona midfielder was initially questioned about what kind of advice his mother typically gives him, keeping in mind his young age. The player, however, replied that she does not even watch his games anymore:
“My mother doesn’t even watch the games anymore, to be honest, she gets very scared. Before every match, she tells me, ‘Be careful not to get into any fights.’ I always try to reassure her and keep her as calm as possible.”
Praise for Bellingham
Looking at Real Madrid, Gavi was then asked about favorites from the opposing team. Questioned about specific players that he rated highly or liked watching, the Barcelona midfielder had two names in mind. One of them is new summer arrival Jude Bellingham, who is enjoying a great run of form at Madrid:
“He (Bellingham) is showing his level at Madrid, but of course, they have many other very complete players, and you shouldn’t focus on just one, but the entire team.”
Madrid’s French guardian
The other name that the Barcelona academy pearl highlighted was Aurélien Tchouaméni. Complimenting his way of playing, the 19-year-old had the following to say:
“I quite like Tchouaméni as a player. He seems like a top-level footballer to me, and I really like his style of play.”
With time ticking away before El Clasico kicks off at the Montjuic Stadium, young Gavi will be raring to go. The league fixture will be crucial to the standings on the table, as only one point currently separates Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
