FC Barcelona might not be financially blessed at the moment but have no dearth of talent in the squad, thanks to La Masia. One of the crown jewels of the famed academy is currently out injured and that is none other than Gavi.
The 2022 Golden Boy Award winner is currently spending time on the sidelines as he looks to recover from an ACL injury he suffered whilst playing for Spain. He has been out of action since November 19.
In the absence of Gavi, Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez last season missed their most intense presser and ball-winner in midfield which led to instability in the structure. It took a while for the coach to identify Andreas Christensen as a potential solution by which time the season was almost a foregone conclusion.
Hansi Flick and Barcelona eagerly await the return of Gavi but the club knows the need to be patient. As per Mundo Deportivo, the 19-year-old sensation has not stopped training, even on weekends as he eyes a swift return to the first team.
Whilst it could still be a few months before we see him back in action again, Gavi has been featured training with the ball at the Ciutat Esportiva along with a Barca staff member as he remains relentless in his recovery and looks to build back the strength in his injured knee.
Barcelona remain extremely cautious to not rush Gavi back to action, which is understandable considering the gravity of the injury. Rushing him back could cause a relapse which would be catastrophic.
It is not surprising to see Gavi’s determination. That is one characteristic that defines him even on the field. He is extremely passionate. The player always wants to return as soon as possible but it’s the club that must make this call.
Let’s see how long it takes before Gavi is seen again in a Barcelona shirt. Fans are eagerly anticipating that day and let’s hope everything goes well.
